About

Peterson Prairie Campground sits at 2,800 feet elevation in the Mt. Adams Ranger District of Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The campground features level, graveled sites shaded by large pine, spruce, and fir trees. Its location adjacent to extensive huckleberry fields makes it extremely popular during late summer harvesting season. The campground provides 30 sites including a group site that accommodates up to 50 people. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and potable water are available. A camp host is present in season and sells firewood for $10 per bundle. Nearby attractions include the Ice Cave, accessible via a stairway leading to impressive ice formations, and the Natural Bridges trail. Bird Creek Meadows offers spectacular wildflower displays, and Goose Lake provides excellent trout fishing 8 miles west of the campground.
