Dover is a day-use recreation area situated on the shores of Lake Barkley in Stewart County, Tennessee. Managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, this facility provides a scenic spot for group gatherings, picnics, and enjoying the lake. The group shelter accommodates about 35 people and has space for 10 vehicles, with amenities including electric lights and a water spigot. Popular activities at Dover include fishing, boating, and picnicking. Wildlife enthusiasts may spot deer, raccoons, and golden eagles in the area. The site is located near Fort Donelson National Battlefield, where the Union Army secured their first significant victory during the Civil War. Note: This is a day-use area only. No overnight camping is permitted, and there are no restroom facilities on site. The group shelter can be reserved through Recreation.gov.

Directions

From Nashville or St. Louis, take I-24 to Clarksville. Take Exit 8 for TN-237 W for 2.4 miles. Turn right onto Warfield Blvd for 1.6 miles, continue onto 101st Airborne Parkway for 6.3 miles, then continue onto TN-347 Parkway for 4.5 miles. Turn right onto US-79 S for 24.2 miles. Turn right on W. Spring St for 466 feet, turn right at the first cross street onto Hood St for 500 feet, then turn right onto Forrest St for 200 feet.
