About

Redstone Campground is set amidst a scattering of aspen groves on a ridge above the Crystal River at 7,800 feet in White River National Forest. The widely spaced sites offer views of dramatic red rock outcroppings and cliffs, while tall grass and scattered forest provide privacy between campsites. The campground is especially designed for large RVs, with sites featuring picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern hooks. The facility includes 37 campsites across three loops. The Osgood and Allgeier loops feature electric and water hookups, while the Mechau loop offers primitive tent camping. One building has flush toilets with hot and cold running water and showers, complemented by three vault toilet facilities. A playground, open play area, basketball court, horseshoe pits, and picnic shelter provide recreation options. The Crystal River flowing nearby is renowned for fly fishing with plentiful rainbow, brown, cutthroat, and brook trout. Mt. Sopris (12,953 ft) offers a challenging 14.8-mile hike with 4,600 feet of elevation gain. The historic town of Redstone is just one mile south, featuring shops, galleries, restaurants, and Cleveholm Manor castle built by industrialist John Osgood.
