About

Sitting Bull Campground is located off U.S. Highway 16, the Cloud Peak Skyway, approximately 20 miles east of Ten Sleep, Wyoming at an elevation of 8,600 feet. The campground occupies a prime spot at the treeline edge of an expansive mountain meadow, providing excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Most sites offer sweeping views of the surrounding Bighorn Mountains. The campground features 41 standard nonelectric sites divided between Loop A (sites 1-16) and Loop B (sites 17-41), including one double site that accommodates up to 16 people. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Accessible vault toilets, drinking water, and bear-resistant trash containers are provided throughout. Site 6 meets established accessibility standards. Meadowlark Lake, covering 325 acres, is nearby and open to wake-less boating, making it ideal for canoeing and fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, brown, and brook trout. The High Park Lookout, a historic CCC-built fire lookout, offers panoramic views via a short hike. West Tensleep Lake and trails into the Cloud Peak Wilderness are about 10 miles north.
