About
Boulder Park Campground is located about 50 miles east of Worland, Wyoming on the west side of the Cloud Peak Skyway scenic byway. The campground sits at 8,000 feet elevation on the banks of West Tensleep Creek in an open meadow surrounded by lodgepole pine forest. Each of the 32 single-family sites includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill, with accessible vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, and trash collection provided. The Bighorn National Forest offers outstanding recreation including diverse hiking trails that access the Cloud Peak Wilderness, trout fishing in West Tensleep Creek, and scenic driving. Meadowlark Lake is within a couple miles and allows motorized craft at wake-less speed, while West Tensleep Lake to the north is open to non-motorized craft only. The historic High Park Lookout, an old CCC-built fire lookout, offers panoramic views via a short hike from Meadowlark Lake. Deer Haven Lodge and Meadowlark Lodge are nearby, offering dining, lodging, guided horseback riding, and camping supplies. The nearest dump station is at Powder River Pass, about 15 miles away. Note that horses and pack animals are prohibited at this campground.
Directions
From Worland, WY: Take U.S. Highway 16 east for 48 miles, then turn onto West Tensleep Lake Road (Forest Road 27) and travel 0.5 miles west. Campground is on the left. From Ten Sleep, WY: Take Highway 16 east for about 17.5 miles to Forest Road 27. Turn left, cross the bridge, go 0.2 miles, and turn left at the sign.
