About

Lakeview Campground occupies a scenic location on the northern shore of Meadowlark Lake, approximately 50 miles east of Worland, Wyoming, on the west side of the Cloud Peak Skyway. The campground features 20 sites nestled among lodgepole pine and Douglas fir trees, with several sites offering views of the lake. At an elevation of 8,300 feet, this location provides a classic high-country camping experience in the Bighorn National Forest. Meadowlark Lake covers 325 acres and is restricted to wake-less boating, making it ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. Anglers will find rainbow, cutthroat, brown, and brook trout in the cool mountain waters. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area, with numerous hiking trails ranging from easy loop trails to challenging treks into the Cloud Peak Wilderness. Off-road vehicle trails and scenic jeep roads provide additional recreation opportunities. The High Park Lookout, a historic CCC-built fire lookout, is located nearby and offers panoramic views after a short hike. West Tensleep Lake, about 10 miles north, provides access to wilderness trails and non-motorized boating.

Directions

From Ten Sleep, Wyoming, take Highway 16 east for about 20.3 miles and turn right at the campground sign. From Worland, take U.S. Highway 16 east for 52 miles.
