About

Willow Park Group Campground is located about 50 miles east of Worland, Wyoming along US Highway 16, the scenic Cloud Peak Skyway. At 8,600 feet elevation, the campground occupies an open meadow ringed by lodgepole pine forest near the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area. The single reservable group site can accommodate up to 60 people for overnight camping or 150 for day-use picnicking. Amenities include picnic tables, serving tables, grills, a campfire circle with benches, an accessible vault toilet, drinking water from a hand pump, and trash collection during the operating season. The campground is administered by Rustic Freedom/Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds. A 14-day stay limit applies, and dogs must be kept on leash. Horses and pack animals are not permitted. Meadowlark Lake lies within a couple miles and offers excellent trout fishing with motorized boats allowed at no-wake speed. West Tensleep Lake, a few miles north, is open to non-motorized craft only. The historic James T. Saban Lookout, built by the CCC in 1942 and named for a Forest Service employee who died fighting the 1937 Blackwater Fire, is accessible via a short hike east of Meadowlark Lake and rewards visitors with panoramic views of the surrounding Bighorn Mountains.
