About
Dugway Campground is a free Bureau of Land Management recreation site situated along the scenic North Platte River near Sinclair, Wyoming. The campground's defining feature is its peaceful riverside setting, where the only sound is the river meandering northward. This primitive camping area offers 5 individual campsites including 1 pull-through site and 4 spur sites, plus a group camping area. The North Platte River is the main attraction, providing excellent fly fishing opportunities for trout and serving as a take-out point for canoers and kayakers. A control crest was installed below the dugway, so boaters are advised to begin their river trips upstream. The site is popular for wildlife viewing, with opportunities to spot pronghorn antelope, mule deer, coyotes, and various bird species along the river corridor. Amenities are basic but functional, including vault toilets, picnic tables at each site, fire rings with grills, parking spurs, and day-use parking areas. There are no hookups, potable water, or other modern conveniences. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. Horses are not permitted in the campground. The location offers a true backcountry camping experience while remaining accessible via county road from Interstate 80.
Directions
From Rawlins, take I-80 east for 5 miles to the west Sinclair exit, then go north on County Road 351 about 7 miles to the turnoff on the right.
