A push of monsoon moisture will bring a mix of wet and dry scattered thunderstorms to the region through this evening. Lingering dry surface air will limit the rainfall amounts through Saturday especially across southeast Oregon, increasing concern for lightning ignitions. * AFFECTED AREA...In Idaho, Fire Weather Zones 423 Owyhee Mountains, 424 Western Twin Falls BLM and 426 Southern Highlands. * TIMING...Until 8 PM MDT this evening. * THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered coverage with abundant lightning. * OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty erratic winds up to 40 mph. * IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. At 539 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Sevy Falls, or 27 miles north of Jarbidge, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Clover Butte, Clover Creek Crossing, Sevy Falls, Horse Butte, Juniper Ranch, and Coonskin Butte.

ESFBOI Monsoon moisture will bring a threat of thunderstorms to the region through Saturday evening for much of the area. High atmospheric moisture will allow for isolated thunderstorms producing heavy rain accumulations, leading to an increased threat of flash flooding especially for the recent wildfire burn scars. Friday and Saturday have the highest chance for locally heavy rains, especially near the ID-NV border, Baker County, and high terrain in southwest Idaho. Burn scars have the highest risk for flash flooding. Several burn scars across the area are of particular concern for flash flooding and debris flows, including: the Wapiti burn scar near Grandjean, ID, the Fox burn scar near Richland, OR, the Powder River burn scar near Richland, OR, the Tartar burn scar near Weiser, ID, the Coleman Creek burn scar near Juntura, OR and the Big Grass Fire burn scar near Jordan Valley, OR. Please monitor the latest weather conditions if traveling near these areas.
About
North Fork Campground sits in the dramatic North Fork of the Owyhee River Canyon in remote southwestern Idaho. This small BLM campground serves as a gateway to the North Fork Owyhee Wilderness Area, which was designated in March 2009 and encompasses over 43,000 acres of protected lands. The canyon features steep vertical walls ranging from 200 to 500 feet deep, transitioning from rhyolite monoliths and pinnacle formations to sheer basalt cliffs. The campground is classified as semi-developed, offering basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables at each site, and fire grates. There is no potable water available, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The 14-day stay limit applies. The remote location along the Owyhee Uplands Backcountry Byway means high-clearance vehicles are recommended, particularly during wet conditions. The surrounding area provides opportunities for wildlife viewing, photography, hiking into the wilderness, and exploring the river canyon. The shoreline is lined with groves of mature and old-growth juniper woodlands, creating a distinctive high-desert landscape.

About 27 miles southeast of Jordan Valley, Oregon, along the Owyhee Uplands Backcountry Byway (Juniper Mountain Road/Mud Flat Road) where the road crosses the North Fork of the Owyhee River.
