Wye Campground

Closed — Closed until further notice by the U.S. Forest Service.

About

Wye Campground sits within Pike National Forest in Teller County, Colorado, offering a primitive camping experience in the Front Range. Historically one of the last free campgrounds in Pike National Forest, it featured 21 individual campsites, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. The campground is accessed via a rough road that requires four-wheel drive or high-clearance vehicles. Due to its primitive nature, amenities were minimal, with vault toilets being the primary facility. The area appeals to campers seeking a more rustic experience away from developed campgrounds. The U.S. Forest Service has closed Wye Campground until further notice. The closure appears to be related to hazard trees and general forest management concerns affecting areas of the South Platte Ranger District.

Directions

From Colorado Springs, go 8 miles southwest on Old Stage Road and 5 miles on Gold Camp Road. Turn right on FDR 381 for 1/2 mile. The campground is on the left side of the road.
