About

Willard Brook State Forest encompasses 2,597 acres in the towns of Ashby and Townsend, approximately 50 miles northwest of Boston. The campground offers an intimate camping experience with just 19 campsites spread beneath a pine canopy, plus a distinctive group yurt that accommodates up to 10 people. The canvas-sided yurt features bunk beds, tables, chairs, and access to water and electricity, with wheelchair accessibility. The campground provides access to Damon Pond for swimming and fishing, and serves as a gateway to extensive trail networks including the Friends Trail Loop, a 4-mile connection to Pearl Hill State Park. The forest features classic New England woods with tumbling brooks and quick water, offering terrain more characteristic of western Massachusetts. Trails accommodate hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and in winter, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Facilities include flush toilets but no showers or hookups. A dump station is not available. All reservations must be made in advance through the Massachusetts DCR reservation system; walk-in camping is not permitted. Trailers longer than 20 feet may have difficulty maneuvering into sites. The campground operates under standard Massachusetts state park rules, including 14-day maximum stays during peak season and prohibition of alcohol.
