Wildwood Campground is situated in the western reaches of White Mountain National Forest, approximately 4 miles west of Lost River Reservation near Kinsman Notch. This rustic campground provides 26 wooded, non-reservable sites with gravel pads, fire rings, and picnic tables, operating on a first-come, first-served basis with a self-service pay system.
The campground is located along the Wild Ammonoosuc River, which was the scene of major log drives in the 1900s. Moose are commonly seen along the riverbanks, making wildlife viewing a popular activity. Directly across from the campground is a picnic area with its own facilities, including a historic pavilion built by the Civilian Conservation Corps that offers stunning views of Mount Moosilauke. Each site accommodates up to 8 people and 2 vehicles, with quiet hours observed between 10 PM and 7 AM.
The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the White Mountain region, with nearby attractions including Franconia Notch, the Kancamagus Highway, Lost River, and numerous hiking opportunities. The location on Route 112 provides excellent views of Mount Moosilauke as you drive west from the campground.
