About

Off the beaten path, Russell Pond Campground is nestled into the hillside overlooking Russell Pond, a popular boating and fishing site regularly stocked by the State Fish and Game Department. The campground's 86 campsites are set among a beautiful forest of northern hardwoods that provide ample shade, accommodating everything from tent camping to large RVs. The 40-acre spring-fed Russell Pond averages 33 feet in depth and offers excellent trout fishing and non-motorized boating opportunities. Power boats are not permitted on the pond. Nature programs are presented at the amphitheater on Saturday evenings during July and August, providing educational experiences for families. The campground is located just 6 miles from the famous Kancamagus National Scenic Byway, offering access to scenic viewing, picnicking, and extensive hiking and mountain biking trails throughout the White Mountains. The area is home to diverse northern wildlife including moose, white-tailed deer, black bear, and nearly 200 species of birds. With 1,200 miles of hiking trails in the region, including 160 miles of the Appalachian Trail, Russell Pond Campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the White Mountains.
