About

Wickham Gulch Campground is a small, primitive campground tucked away on the Long Pines Unit of the Custer Gallatin National Forest's Sioux Ranger District. With only 2 individual campsites and a day-use picnic area, it offers a quiet, secluded camping experience in the pine-covered hills of far southeast Montana near the South Dakota border. The campground sits near Capitol Rock National Natural Landmark, providing access to interesting geological formations and hiking opportunities in the Long Pines area. Facilities are basic: vault toilets and fire rings are available, but there is no potable water, trash service, or firewood provided. Campers should bring drinking water and pack out all trash. As a free, first-come, first-served campground, Wickham Gulch sees light use and offers solitude for those seeking a primitive backcountry experience. The 16-day stay limit applies. Access roads are gravel Forest Roads that may become impassable during winter weather or heavy rain.
