About

Reva Gap Campground offers a primitive camping experience in the remote Slim Buttes Unit of the Custer Gallatin National Forest, approximately 20 miles southeast of Buffalo, South Dakota. The campground provides 8 individual campsites and 2 group sites, all available on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees required. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, with parking spurs averaging 30 to 60 feet. The campground is located near the Castles National Natural Landmark, one of two such landmarks on the Sioux Ranger District. The area features spectacularly eroded steep-walled buttes that create a striking landscape. Day hiking and picnicking opportunities are available in the surrounding area. Facilities are basic but functional, with vault toilets available including ADA-accessible options. Campers should come fully prepared as there is no potable water, no trash service, and no firewood provided. Pack out all trash and bring adequate drinking water. A 14-day stay limit applies.
