White Tank Campground

White Tank Campground sits at 3,800 feet elevation in the northern section of Joshua Tree National Park, accessible via Pinto Basin Road. This small campground has 15 sites, all first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. To secure a site, locate an empty campsite, occupy it with a tent or personal items, then proceed immediately to an entrance station to register and pay within one hour. If entrance stations are closed, payment may be delayed until morning. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, a picnic table at each site, and fire rings. No potable water is available, so campers must bring all water needed. There are no showers or hookups. RVs and vehicles with trailers cannot exceed 25 feet combined length. Sites typically fill by Friday afternoon on weekends during peak season from October through May. Campfires are permitted only in designated fire rings except during the park-wide fire restriction period from June 15 through October 1, when open flames are prohibited. Pets must remain on leash at all times and may not be left unattended. Food and scented items must be stored securely from wildlife.

White Tank is located off Pinto Basin Road in the northern end of Joshua Tree National Park. The campground is 11 miles from Twentynine Palms and 28 miles from the Cottonwood Visitor Center.
