About

Hidden Valley Campground is one of the most sought-after camping spots in Joshua Tree National Park, nestled among massive granite boulder piles that define the park's landscape. Located off Park Boulevard at 4,200 feet elevation, the campground features 44 individual sites arranged along one dead-end road and two loops. Rock climbers particularly favor this location for its proximity to classic routes on the surrounding formations. The campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Sites cost $25 per night and can accommodate up to six people, three tents, and two vehicles if space allows. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, though campfires are prohibited from June 15 through October 1 due to fire danger. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Hidden Valley fills nearly every weekend during the peak season from September through May. Arriving midweek offers the best chance of securing a site. The maximum combined length for RVs and trailers is 24 feet, and there are no hookups. Pets are allowed but must remain on leash at all times and cannot be left unattended.
