About
White Oaks Campground sits amid a grove of towering oaks and pines along Tassajara Road in the Monterey District of Los Padres National Forest. Eight campsites create an intimate loop around a central area filled with berry bushes and native vegetation, providing privacy and shade. The campground sits at 4,200 feet elevation in the Santa Lucia mountain range, where oak woodlands provide habitat for deer, bobcats, and over 90 species of birds. Red-tailed deer are commonly seen eating berries in the center of the campground. The campground serves as a basecamp for exploring the Ventana Wilderness, located just 2.7 miles from the Pine Ridge Trailhead with 23 miles of trails to explore. The drive follows a dirt road through pine forests and oak groves with expansive views of valleys and hilltops throughout the Santa Lucia range. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring, though fires are only allowed in designated rings per current restrictions. While primarily used by tent campers, RVs up to 20 feet can navigate the sites. Campers must be self-sufficient as no potable water is available onsite.
