Coastal Flood Advisory issued August 9 at 9:43PM PDT until August 13 at 2:00AM PDT by NWS San Francisco CA
* WHAT...Up to 1.6 ft of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Bayshore locations along the San Francisco Bay, San Pablo Bay, and Monterey Bay. * WHEN...Until 2 AM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...At the San Francisco tidal gauge, high tide is expected to be 1.6 ft above normal (7.46 ft MLLW) at 10:01 PM Monday 8/10, 1.6 ft above normal (7.44 ft MLLW) at 10:57 PM Tuesday 8/11, and 1.4 ft above normal (7.24 ft MLLW) at 11:49 PM Wednesday 8/12. These predictions include both astronomical tides and roughly 3-6 inches of additional water mainly from a combination of thermal expansion and accumulated sea level rise since the tidal datum was established (1983-2001). High tide varies up to 90 minutes earlier or later along the Pacific Coast and through the San Francisco Bay, respectively.
About
Andrew Molera Trail Camp offers a backcountry camping experience within one of Big Sur's most scenic state parks. Located in a serene meadow near the Big Sur River, this walk-in campground is accessible via a gentle quarter-mile hike from the day-use parking lot. The 22 standard tent sites and two hike-and-bike sites provide an escape from the RV crowds typical of other Big Sur campgrounds. Each campsite comes equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and bear-proof food storage container. The campground has flush toilets and potable water, though no showers are available. Animal-proof dumpsters handle trash disposal. The surrounding park encompasses nearly 5,000 acres with 15 miles of trails leading to beaches, ridgetops, and the Big Sur River mouth. The campground operates seasonally from May 1 through October 31. Reservations through ReserveCalifornia are strongly recommended as sites book up to six months in advance. Dogs are not permitted in the campground or on most park trails.
Directions
Located 20 miles south of Carmel on Highway 1. Park in the day-use parking lot and hike approximately 1/4 mile to the campground.
