About

Ward Lake Campground meanders along the shores of Ward Lake at 10,200 ft elevation in the Grand Mesa National Forest. The 27 campsites are set among spruce trees, offering a variety of settings: some sites sit directly on the lakeshore with open views, others overlook the lake from slightly elevated positions, and still others are tucked back for more privacy and seclusion. The shoreline sites are on an unmarked spur road, while the remaining sites are shaded and more secluded. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with fees of $22-24 per night. An additional vehicle fee of $11-12 applies. Sites accommodate up to two vehicles and eight people. Maximum spur length is 45 ft. Vault toilets are available but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own. Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and sites must be occupied the first night and cannot be left unoccupied for 24 hours. Ward Lake offers fishing and motorized boating opportunities. The campground provides convenient access to the many other lakes scattered across the Grand Mesa. This is mosquito country, so repellent is strongly recommended.
