WHERE...Moffat, Routt, Jackson, Grand, Rio Blanco, Garfield, Eagle, Summit, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Mesa, Pitkin, Lake, Park, Delta, Gunnison, Chaffee, Montrose, Ouray, San Miguel, Dolores, and northern parts of Montezuma and Saguache Counties. Locations include, but are not limited to Craig, Steamboat Springs, Walden, Granby, Hot Sulphur Springs, Kremmling, Meeker, Rangely, Glenwood Springs, Eagle, Vail, Breckenridge, Central City, Georgetown, Grand Junction, Aspen, Leadville, Fairplay, Delta, Gunnison, Buena Vista, Salida, Montrose, Nucla, Ouray, Telluride, Dove Creek, Cortez and Saguache. WHEN...900 AM Thursday July 02 to 900 AM Friday July 03 IMPACTS...Areas downwind of large fires in southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah could have periods of moderate to heavy smoke through at least Friday morning. This is especially true for those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young, and older adults. Consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present. Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.

About

Island Lake Campground is located at an elevation of 10,300 feet on Colorado's Grand Mesa, which is home to more than 300 fishing lakes near the cities of Cedaredge and Delta. Most sites are nestled in a thick grove of mature spruce trees, while a few offer panoramic vistas of Grand Valley and several lakes below. The campground features 41 sites with maximum spur lengths of 60 feet, accommodating both tent campers and RVs. The 144-acre Island Lake is just 0.1 miles east of the campground via Forest Route 116, offering excellent fishing, canoeing, and hiking opportunities. The lake features a boat ramp, wheelchair-accessible fishing pier, and fish cleaning station. More than 3,000 miles of trails provide access to areas of rugged beauty and solitude, with terrain suitable for beginners to experts. Wildlife including deer and elk frequent the area. Note that mosquitoes are plentiful; repellent is recommended.

Directions

From Cedaredge, Colorado, take State Route 65 north for 15.7 miles to campground sign (Forest Route 116). Turn left at sign onto Route 116 (gravel) and go 1.4 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign into campground.
