About

Cobbett Lake Campground is located along the Grand Mesa National Scenic and Historic Byway in Colorado's Land O' Lakes area, home to more than 300 lakes. Situated at 10,300 feet elevation on the shore of Cobbett Lake, the campground features 20 standard nonelectric sites nestled beneath a dense canopy of spruce trees that provide shade to nearly every site. Each campsite includes a picnic table and campfire ring. The lake is open to non-motorized watercraft, making it ideal for canoeing and fishing. Anglers can cast for rainbow, brook, and cutthroat trout here and at numerous nearby lakes. Several hiking trails depart from the vicinity, including the Cobbett Lake Trail and Grand Mesa Discovery Trail. The Grand Mesa Visitor Center at Island Lake is within walking distance, offering interpretive exhibits, a bookstore, and a high-altitude wildflower garden with over 50 native plant species. The campground operates on a mix of reservations via Recreation.gov and first-come, first-served availability. Maximum spur length is 42 feet. Two vehicles and up to 8 people are allowed per site. The area is known for abundant mosquitoes, so insect repellent is essential.

Directions

From Cedaredge, travel north on Highway 65 approximately 15.7 miles. Just past the Grand Mesa Visitor Center, turn right at the north end of Cobbett Lake to reach the campground.
