Located in the mountains of Mesa County near Collbran, Vega State Park surrounds a 900-acre high-mountain reservoir with 109 campsites spread across four distinct campgrounds. Early Settlers Campground is the most developed, offering 33 sites with water and electric hookups, plus access to a camper services building with flush toilets and coin-operated showers. Oak Point and Aspen Grove campgrounds provide more rustic camping with water spigots throughout but no hookups or flush facilities. Pioneer Campground features 10 walk-in tent sites in a quieter setting. All sites include fire pits, picnic tables, and scenic views of the surrounding montane meadows and mountains. The park operates year-round with reservations required, though several amenities close seasonally. Directions

From I-70, take exit 49 to Highway 65. Go approximately 11 miles on Highway 65, and turn left onto Highway 330. Go twelve miles to the town of Collbran. Stay on 330 East past Collbran for about 12 miles to Mesa County Rd. 64.6/10ths Rd. and turn right at the Vega State Park sign. Go five miles to the park entrance station. Go another half mile, and turn right across Vega Dam to the park’s Visitor Center.
