St Johns River Near Astor affecting Lake and Volusia Counties. .The St Johns River at Astor is forecast to remain in Minor Flood Stage through Friday, as previous heavy rainfall continues to drain through the basin. However, strong northeasterly winds this weekend are forecast to lead a return to Moderate Flood Stage. For the St. Johns River...including Astor...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...St Johns River near Astor. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 2.8 feet, Docks and boat ramps covered at South Moon Fish Camp and approaching sea wall at Blair's Jungle Den. Water approaching sites closest to the river at Fish Tales RV Resort and Astor Landing Campground. Portion of Clair Street covered by river water south of the Butler Boat Ramp. Docks underwater at the Astor Bridge Marina and along Riveredge Drive. Portions of Fox Road are covered with water nearest to the river. Acorn, Hazelnut and Redbud roads are underwater with yards inundated. At 3.0 feet, Water approaches or may enter lowest homes on or near Wildhog Road and nearby canals. Flooding reaches the parking lot of the Juno Trail Apartments. Flooding on portions of Alligator Road and Holiday Road. Lowest lying yards along Blue Creek are flooded. Roads at Astor Landing Campground and Lake Dexter Boat Ramp begin to flood. Located where the Tomoka River meets the Halifax River basin, Tomoka State Park Campground provides a peaceful retreat in a mature hardwood hammock near Ormond Beach, Florida. The campground's 100 sites occupy a shaded loop with hard-packed sand surfaces and natural foliage creating privacy between neighbors. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, grill, in-ground fire ring, and electric and water hookups. Three restroom facilities with hot showers serve the campground, two of which are ADA accessible. A dump station is located near the campground exit, and laundry facilities are available for registered campers. The Tomoka Outpost camp store provides snacks, camping supplies, and watercraft rentals with a relaxing riverfront atmosphere. The park offers excellent recreational opportunities including fishing, kayaking, and hiking. The area is rich in history as a former Timucuan village site and features the Fred Dana Marsh Museum. The maximum RV length is 34 feet, with at least one pull-through site available.
Directions
Located at 2099 North Beach Street in Ormond Beach. From I-95, take exit 268 (US-1/Ormond Beach) and head east on Granada Boulevard. Turn north on Beach Street and continue approximately 3 miles to the park entrance.
