About
Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area Campground is a premier oceanfront destination nestled on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway in Flagler Beach. Named for legendary Florida folk singer and storyteller Gamble Rogers, this 145-acre park offers 68 campsites divided into two distinct areas: 34 beachside sites located on the primary dune with some offering excellent Atlantic Ocean views, and 34 riverside sites overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. All sites are equipped with water and electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings, accommodating both tent campers and RVs up to 47 feet on beach sites. The campground provides exceptional access to coastal recreation with dune walkovers protecting the fragile dune ecosystem while providing easy beach access. A paved boat ramp serves the Intracoastal Waterway, accommodating vessels up to 25 feet, with separate sandy launch areas for kayaks and canoes. The 0.75-mile Joe Kenner Nature Trail winds through coastal hammock habitat, offering opportunities to observe wading birds, dolphins, and manatees. The park is recognized as part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail and serves as important sea turtle nesting habitat from May through September. Full-service bathhouses in both campground sections offer hot showers and accessible facilities. A beach wheelchair is available by advance reservation. The campground includes laundry facilities, a communal dump station free to campers, and accessible amenities throughout. Pets are welcome in the campground but prohibited on the beach. RVers traveling from Interstate 95 should use exits 284 or 268 to avoid low clearances at exit 278.
Directions
Located at 3100 S. Oceanshore Blvd. (A1A) in Flagler Beach. RVers and trailers should use exits 284 or 268 from Interstate 95. Do not use exit 278 due to tight turns and low tree clearance.
