About
Tilden Regional Park, encompassing 2,079 acres in the Berkeley hills, offers group camping at three primitive campsites and one equestrian facility. New Woodland accommodates 17-50 people and features a storage building, fire circle with amphitheater seating, and drinking water. Gillespie, the largest site, holds 25-75 people and is the only group site allowing beer and wine with a permit. Wildcat View also accommodates 25-75 people and includes a shelter and storage container. The Es Anderson Equestrian Camp requires a minimum of 5 horses and accommodates 4-50 people. All group campsites are primitive, featuring picnic tables, BBQs, fire rings, and chemical toilets. Most sites have drinking water available, though equestrian campers should arrange for horse water with the park. Sites are accessible via short hikes from parking areas or allow limited vehicle access at check-in and check-out only. The group camps operate seasonally from May through October, closing for winter from the first Monday in October through April 30. Reservations must be made by phone at least 3 business days in advance and cannot be made online on opening dates.
