About

Aquatic Park Cove is a vibrantly urban harbor within San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, offering overnight anchoring for sailing vessels in a semi-protected environment on the Pacific shores of San Francisco. Sheltered by Municipal Pier to the west and Hyde Street Pier to the east, the cove provides a unique gateway for small craft visiting San Francisco. This motorboat-free zone strictly permits sailing vessels only, though auxiliary engines may be used at very low speed for safe maneuvering within the cove for entry, anchoring, and departure. Small outboard engines on dinghies are authorized for transit between vessel and shore. Powerboats, motorboats, speedboats, and jet skis are strictly prohibited. Vessel operators must contact the Park's permit officer on VHF marine radio channel 83A (157.175MHz) using call sign "Aquatic Park NPS" upon entering. The cove's location provides walking and biking access to Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Golden Gate Bridge, Crissy Field, Palace of Fine Arts, and numerous San Francisco attractions including museums, theaters, restaurants, and public transportation. The Streamline Modern Aquatic Park Bathhouse dominates the vista with Russian and Telegraph hills beyond. Swimmers, kayakers, paddle boarders, and rowers also use the cove, so vessel operators must remain vigilant.

Directions

Aquatic Park Cove is located on the San Francisco Bay waterfront in the Fisherman's Wharf neighborhood. Accessible only by water. Sailing vessels should approach from San Francisco Bay and contact Park on VHF marine radio channel 83A (157.175MHz) using call sign "Aquatic Park NPS" upon entry.
