Open — The campground is currently open for reservations year-round. Access to Angel Island requires ferry service from San Francisco or Tiburon, or private boat. The perimeter road on the north side of the island is closed due to a landslide as of December 2024.

North Garrison Group Camp sits on Angel Island State Park in the San Francisco Bay, offering a unique group camping experience accessible only by ferry and foot. The campsite is located near the historic U.S. Immigration Station on the north side of the island, requiring campers to hike up to 2.5 miles from Ayala Cove with elevation gain over 300 feet. The site can accommodate up to 30 people, making it ideal for youth groups, organized events, and large gatherings. The campsite includes essential amenities such as picnic tables, food lockers, running water, pit toilets, and charcoal barbecues. Wood fires are not permitted, so campers must bring charcoal or camp stoves. Food lockers are crucial due to active raccoon populations. Angel Island offers spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline, Marin Headlands, and Mount Tamalpais, along with rich historical sites including the Immigration Station, military fortifications, and cultural exhibits spanning thousands of years of human history. Access to Angel Island is via public ferry from San Francisco or Tiburon, or by private boat. The island offers extensive hiking trails, bike-friendly perimeter roads, and numerous historical sites to explore. Travel after sunset is prohibited in some areas for security and safety. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance through ReserveCalifornia.
