Angel Island Sp North Garrison Group Camp

Open

The campground is open for reservations. The island's perimeter road is partially closed on the north side due to a landslide in December 2024. Day use boat slips are partially closed with 16 slips available.

About

North Garrison Group Camp sits on the north side of Angel Island, the largest natural island in San Francisco Bay. The campsite is located near the historic U.S. Immigration Station and offers a unique wilderness camping experience within sight of the San Francisco skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, and Marin Headlands. Access requires taking a public ferry from San Francisco or Tiburon, or arriving by private boat. From the Ayala Cove ferry landing, campers must hike approximately 1.5 to 2 miles uphill to reach the campsite, carrying all gear. Bikes and wagons are permitted on the paved perimeter road. The group site can accommodate up to 30 people, making it popular for youth groups, scout troops, and organized gatherings. The campsite provides essential amenities including pit toilets, running water, picnic tables, food lockers for bear-resistant storage, and charcoal barbecues. Wood fires are strictly prohibited on the island. Dogs are not allowed except for service animals. Reservations are made through ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance and book quickly, especially for weekend dates.

Directions
