About

Ayala Cove Group Picnic Area is one of five reservable group picnic sites at Angel Island State Park, located in the heart of San Francisco Bay. This day-use facility accommodates groups of 35 to 200 people and is situated near the main ferry landing at Ayala Cove, making it easily accessible for visitors arriving by public ferry or private boat. The picnic area provides tables and charcoal barbecue facilities for group gatherings. Angel Island State Park offers spectacular 360-degree views of the San Francisco skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands, and Mount Tamalpais. The island is rich in history, serving as a Coast Miwok fishing site for thousands of years, a Spanish exploration haven, a U.S. Army post spanning from the Civil War through the Cold War, and the site of the Angel Island Immigration Station that processed hundreds of thousands of immigrants from 1910 to 1940. Today, visitors can explore historic sites, hike the perimeter road and trails, visit museums at the Immigration Station, and enjoy the natural beauty of the largest natural island in San Francisco Bay. The Ayala Cove area includes a visitor center, restrooms, seasonally available café, bike rentals, and tram tours. The group picnic area is ideal for organized gatherings, celebrations, and events in a scenic outdoor setting with easy access to the island's many recreational and historic attractions.
