Air Quality Alert issued June 30 at 9:12AM MST by NWS Phoenix AZ
AQAPSR The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has issued an Ozone High Pollution Advisory for the Phoenix Metro Area today and Wednesday. This means that forecast weather conditions combined with existing ozone levels are expected to result in local maximum 8-hour ozone concentrations that pose a health risk. Adverse health effects increase as air quality deteriorates. Ozone is an air contaminant which can cause breathing difficulties for children, older adults, as well as persons with respiratory problems. A decrease in physical activity is recommended. You are urged to car pool, telecommute or use mass transit. The use of gasoline-powered equipment should be reduced or done late in the day. For details on this High Pollution Advisory, visit the ADEQ internet site at www.azdeq.gov/forecast/phoenix or call 602-771-2300.

About
The Point Campground provides a remote camping experience accessible only by boat on Canyon Lake, part of the Salt River chain of lakes in Arizona's Tonto National Forest. Located a few miles up-channel from the main lake access points, this small site has just three designated camp units that also serve as picnic sites for day users. A courtesy dock makes it popular with boaters and anglers. Facilities are minimal but include the only toilet on the upper portion of Canyon Lake. There is no potable water, no trash collection, and no fire rings. Campers must bring adequate water supplies and pack out all garbage. Picnic tables are provided at the sites. Access requires a Tonto Daily Pass with Watercraft Sticker or a Tonto Discovery Pass. Glass containers are prohibited in the Canyon Lake area. A 14-day stay limit applies, and quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The route to Canyon Lake via Highway 88 (the historic Apache Trail) is paved but features narrow, sharp curves with heavy traffic.
Directions
17 miles northeast of Apache Junction on Arizona State Highway 88 (historic Apache Trail). From Mesa, take US 60 to the Idaho Road exit, go north on Idaho Road to Highway 88 and turn right. After crossing the first bridge at the lake, watch for the Palo Verde Recreation Site sign. The route is paved with narrow, sharp curves and heavy traffic. The last 3 miles to The Point are by boat only.
