About
TeleLi puLaya (Black Oak) Campground is one of the newer Forest Service campgrounds in the Sierra Nevada, opened in 2014 to provide camping access to the Beardsley Dam and Stanislaus River Canyon area. The name comes from the local Miwok language. Located at approximately 5,600 feet elevation, the campground offers spectacular canyon views and a forested setting among black oaks and conifers. The campground has 22 sites total, including two group sites suitable for larger gatherings. All sites feature paved parking pads, picnic tables, and metal fire rings. The main campground road is paved, making access straightforward for most vehicles. Potable water is available from hydrants that serve multiple sites, and vault toilets are located throughout the campground. While there are no hiking trails directly from the campground to Beardsley Reservoir, the area provides access to fishing and boating opportunities. The Summit Ranger District manages this campground, and the maximum stay is 14 days. An extra vehicle fee applies for additional vehicles beyond the first.
Directions
From Highway 108, turn left at the Beardsley Dam sign, located 5 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station. Follow the road to the campground.
