About

The Summit Ranger District manages numerous campgrounds along the upper Highway 108 corridor in California's Sierra Nevada. This collection includes Clark Fork Campground (88 sites with both vault and flush toilets, potable water, and an RV dump station), Cascade Creek Campground (14 sites with vault toilets, no water), Boulder Flat Campground (20 sites along the Stanislaus River), Baker Campground, Brightman Flat, Beardsley Dam, and others. Most campgrounds operate seasonally from May through October, though opening dates vary by elevation and snow conditions. Amenities differ between locations. Clark Fork offers the most developed facilities with flush toilets in B-Loop, three ADA-accessible sites, potable water, and a seasonal RV dump station ($10 fee). Other campgrounds like Cascade Creek and Boulder Flat have vault toilets only and no potable water. Electric and sewer hookups are not available anywhere in the district. Fee RV dump stations are located at Clark Fork Campground, Dardanelle Resort, and near Pinecrest on Highway 108. All campgrounds feature campfire rings and picnic tables at each site. Maximum stays are limited to 14 days. Most sites accommodate up to 6 people. Large motor homes and trailers cannot be accommodated at some campgrounds; Clark Fork has a 32-foot RV limit. Cash payment is required at most fee stations.
