About

Sycamore Flat Campground sits at the edge of the Angeles National Forest along Big Rock Creek Road, offering a convenient basecamp for exploring the San Gabriel Mountains. This small campground features 11 sites that operate on a first-come, first-served basis year-round. The campground is regularly used despite being described as not regularly maintained, indicating its popularity as an accessible option in the area. The campground provides basic amenities typical of Forest Service facilities, including vault toilets and drinking water from a hand pump during the summer months, though water availability can be inconsistent. Each site is equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. The setting is modest and somewhat exposed, with limited privacy between sites due to the compact layout. Despite this, the campground offers a quiet retreat and serves as a functional overnight stop for visitors exploring the surrounding forest. Campers should bring cash or check for the $5 per night camping fee. Adventure Passes are honored for day use, and Interagency Senior and Access passes provide a 50% discount on camping fees. The campground experiences heavy use and provides access to Big Rock Creek and nearby forest trails.
