About

Sunset Campground is Death Valley National Park's largest developed campground, offering 230 first-come, first-served gravel sites in the Furnace Creek area. This no-frills facility is designed for budget-conscious campers who want convenient access to the park's attractions without the amenities of more developed campgrounds. The campground sits on desert gravels with little to no vegetation, creating an austere desert camping experience. Individual campsites do not include fire grates or picnic tables, setting this campground apart from others in the park. Campfires are prohibited at individual sites, but a few designated community fire rings are available for campers to gather. Gas-burning camp stoves are permitted at sites. Paved roadways provide access to most sites, with overflow areas accessed by gravel roads. The campground can accommodate large RVs up to 60 feet and trailers up to 50 feet. Seasonal amenities include flush toilets, potable water, a dump station, and trash collection. One comfort station on the west side of the campground offers ADA access. A camp store is available nearby. Payment is made via automated fee machines that accept credit and debit cards. The campground operates under standard Death Valley regulations including generator hours from 7 AM to 9 PM, quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM, and a 30-day stay limit.
