About

Mesquite Spring Campground occupies a scenic location at 1,800 feet elevation in the northern section of Death Valley National Park. Surrounded by desert mountains and striking geological features, the campground provides 40 first-come, first-served sites, each equipped with a fire grate and picnic table. The area is renowned among astronomers and stargazers as offering some of the best night sky viewing of any developed campground in the park. Facilities include flush toilets in two restroom buildings, potable water, a dump station, and trash collection. There are no hookups, showers, or reservations available. Campers pay at the automated fee station upon arrival. The campground enforces generator hours from 7 AM to 7 PM and quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM, with stays limited to 30 days. The campground is accessed via Scotty's Castle Road from the CA-190 junction. Note that access from Nevada through Grapevine Canyon on Highway 267 remains closed due to ongoing flood recovery work at Scotty's Castle.
