About
Sunglow Campground sits at 7,200 feet elevation in a scenic red rock box canyon just 2 miles from Bicknell, Utah. The campground offers a mix of single sites available on a first-come, first-served basis and two reservable group sites that can accommodate up to 20 people and five vehicles each. Flush toilets and drinking water are provided during the operating season from May through September. The road to the campground is paved, while the interior roads and parking spurs are gravel. A large parking area can accommodate trailers. Cottonwoods and junipers provide limited shade, while sagebrush and summer wildflowers create a beautiful high-desert landscape. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding red rock country. Many miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and off-road vehicles are accessible from the area, with the Great Western Trail passing nearby. Day trips to Capitol Reef National Park, approximately 20 miles away, are popular, as are scenic drives along Utah Highway 12. The campground is managed by High Country Recreation under a Forest Service concession permit. Amenities include picnic tables and fire rings at each site. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility with no garbage services. Campers must bring their own firewood to preserve the natural environment. Pets are allowed but must be leashed at all times. The camping limit is 16 days, and quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
