About
Steamboat Lake State Park sits at 8,100 feet in the mountains of northwest Colorado, about 25 miles north of Steamboat Springs. The 2,820-acre park centers on a scenic reservoir surrounded by aspen groves and pine forests, with the distinctive pyramid shape of Hahns Peak dominating the northern skyline. The park offers 181 campsites across multiple campground loops including Dutch Hill. Sites range from non-electric tent sites to electric RV sites, though full hookups are not available. Each site includes a fire pit and picnic table. Facilities include vault toilets, coin-operated showers and laundry, water fill stations, and a dump station. One ADA-accessible campsite is available. Walk-in sites (181-200) prohibit truck campers and pop-ups in the parking areas. A full-service marina provides boat rentals, fishing supplies, and access to the lake's excellent trout fishing. The park includes 35.6 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, plus a sandy swimming beach. Winter brings snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing opportunities.
