Seedhouse Campground sits at 8,000 feet elevation in the Park Range of the Rocky Mountains, located along the Middle Fork of the Elk River within Routt National Forest. The campground serves as a prime gateway to the Mount Zirkel Wilderness and provides connector access to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. The campground features 24 spacious campsites, with 15 available for reservation and 9 first-come first-served. Sites include both pull-through and back-in options, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Two hand pump water systems serve the campground, along with vault toilets and trash service. The roar of the nearby Middle Fork of the Elk River provides a constant backdrop to the camping experience. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound, including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, trout fishing in the river and mountain streams, and OHV trail riding. Wildlife is abundant, with black bear, elk, mule deer, moose, bobcat, and coyote inhabiting the area. The campground is surrounded by large spruce and fir trees, having undergone hazard tree removal due to mountain pine beetle but retaining its forested character.

Directions

From Steamboat Springs, take US Highway 40 west to County Road 129. Travel 20 miles north on CR 129 to Seedhouse Road just beyond Clark. Turn right on County Road 60/Seedhouse Road (Forest Road 400) and continue northeast for 9.5 miles. Campground is on the right after crossing the North Fork of the Elk River.
