About
Starved Rock State Park Campground sits within one of Illinois' most visited state parks, known for its 18 sandstone canyons carved by glacial meltwater and seasonal waterfalls. The 133-site campground provides a solid base for exploring the park's 13 miles of trails that wind through canyons like French, LaSalle, and St. Louis. All sites are Class A Premium with electric hookups (30 or 50 amp), a picnic table, and a fire pit with grill grate. The campground is split into two loops. The West Loop operates year-round for winter camping enthusiasts, while the East Loop closes from the weekend before Thanksgiving through April 1. Facilities include two shower houses with flush toilets, water hydrants distributed throughout the grounds, and dump stations at both the entrance and exit. A playground and shelter add to the family-friendly setup. Seven ADA-accessible sites feature concrete pads, wheelchair-accessible picnic tables and grills, and concrete pathways to restroom facilities. Reservations are made exclusively online through ExploreMoreIL and open six months in advance. Given the park's popularity, booking early is essential. The campground gates open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. daily. Handicap-accessible and youth group reservations can be made by phone through the park office.
