About

Iron Bog Campground sits at 7,400 feet elevation in the Salmon-Challis National Forest's Lost River Range, offering 21 first-come, first-served campsites along Antelope Creek Road. Seven sites are positioned along Iron Bog Creek, while the remaining sites occupy open sagebrush terrain beneath Smiley Mountain. The campground accommodates RVs and trailers up to 35 feet and includes one group site with a 25-person capacity. Facilities include two accessible vault toilets and a hand pump for drinking water that operates during summer months. Four campsites feature shade awnings, a welcome amenity in this high-desert environment. The campground provides a hitching rail outside the camping area for stock users, though horses are not permitted within the campground itself. The area offers access to nearby alpine lakes including Iron Bog Lake, Brockie Lake, and Fishpole Lake. Use is generally light except during holiday weekends. The campground is accessed via a 19-mile drive on Antelope Creek Road from either Mackay or Arco on Highway 93, with opening and closing dates dependent on road and weather conditions.
