Wheeled Vehicles in Wilderness

This order describes the prohibition of wheeled vehicles in all National Forest Wilderness Areas of the Rocky Mountain Region and any exceptions thereof.

About

Spruce Campground occupies a scenic location on the banks of Cebolla Creek in the Gunnison National Forest, nestled in a classic Colorado high-country spruce-fir landscape. The campground sits between two designated wilderness areas, Powderhorn to the north and La Garita to the south, making it an ideal staging point for backcountry adventures. The remote setting and light usage levels appeal to campers seeking solitude. Cebolla Creek provides stream fishing opportunities, and the surrounding terrain supports diverse wildlife. Several miles of trail extend into both wilderness areas for day hikes or extended backpacking trips. This is a primitive facility with vault toilets but no potable water. Campers must bring their own water supply. Firewood is available for purchase. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no advance reservations.
