About
Spring Bar Campground is a riverside gem along the Salmon River in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests, situated approximately 10 miles east of Riggins, Idaho. This established campground features 18 tent sites, most equipped with fire rings and picnic tables, nestled in the shade of various fruit-bearing trees. As a popular take-out point for Salmon River floaters, the campground includes a boat launching ramp and direct river access.
The surrounding area provides excellent opportunities for fishing, swimming, berry picking, and exploring the rugged Idaho backcountry. A hand pump provides potable water, and vault toilets are available on-site. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations or hookups available. Visitors should be prepared for primitive camping conditions with no cell phone service, no garbage collection (pack it in, pack it out), and no RV amenities.
Access is via Big Salmon Road and Forest Road 1614, which may become impassable during winter months due to snow. The campground is open year-round when accessible, with sites priced at $12 per night plus $3 for each additional vehicle. Wheelchair accessible picnic facilities are available nearby at Allison Creek.
