About

Calhoun Falls State Park is located along the shores of Lake Russell in Abbeville County, offering one of the most coveted campgrounds in the South Carolina state park system. The park sits astride several pine-covered points jutting into the lake, providing spacious campsites with forested shoreline views. The campground is divided into three areas along the lakeshore, with two featuring individual water and electric hookups. These 86 sites accommodate RVs ranging from 30 to 40 feet depending on the site. A separate walk-in tent camping area includes 14 sites with tent pads and centralized water access, with all but one offering waterfront views. All campgrounds have convenient access to restrooms with hot showers. The park provides access to Lake Russell for fishing, swimming, and boating, along with hiking trails, picnic areas, and a day-use beach. The relatively undeveloped nature of Lake Russell makes this an ideal destination for exploring unspoiled scenery and natural diversity.
