Calhoun Falls State Park encompasses 318 acres along the shores of Lake Russell in South Carolina's Abbeville County. The campground is considered one of the most coveted in the state park system, featuring spacious RV and tent sites with forested, shoreline views of the lake. Three campgrounds are spread along the lakeshore, with two offering individual water and electric hookups (30/20 amp service) and a third designated for walk-in tent camping with tent pads and centralized water access. The park provides hot showers in restroom facilities near each campground, laundry facilities, and a centralized dump station. A camp store is available for basic supplies. Day-use amenities include a swimming beach (open seasonally), fishing opportunities from the shore or pier, 36 rental boat slips, tennis and basketball courts, and two reservable picnic shelters. A 1.75-mile loop nature trail winds through the pine forest. Reservations require a minimum two-night stay and can be made online or by calling 1-866-345-PARK. Same-day reservations must be made directly with the park office. Check-in is at 2 p.m. and check-out is at noon.
