About

Silver Jack Campground sits at over 9,000 feet elevation in the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest, offering 60 campsites around Silver Jack Reservoir. The three loops (Chipeta, Ouray, and Sapinero) wind through dense stands of aspen and spruce with a lush understory of tall grass and wildflowers. Loop 3 is often reserved for group camping while the other two accommodate individual campers. This is a remote location with no cell signal and no nearby communities for resupply, so visitors must arrive fully provisioned. The campground provides potable water via hand pumps and vault toilets. Each site features a picnic table and fire ring. Most sites are standard non-electric, though one electric site is available. Some sites are handicap accessible. Bear activity is common in the area; proper food storage is required. OHV trails are accessible nearby, and the reservoir offers fishing opportunities. The combination of reservable sites through Recreation.gov and first-come, first-served availability provides flexibility for trip planning.
