As of 8/22 cyanotoxin levels were negative/below acceptable State of Colorado public health levels at Iola Basin. Cautionary signs will remain posted around Iola Basin on Blue Mesa Reservoir due to possible future reoccurrence as conditions may change.

Cimarron Campground is located 20 miles east of Montrose, Colorado on US Highway 50 at the site of Cimarron, a historic narrow gauge railroad town. The campground sits at 6,895 feet elevation in Curecanti National Recreation Area and offers a unique blend of outdoor recreation and living history. With 21 first-come, first-served sites, the campground accommodates all types of camping from tents to medium-sized RVs and rarely fills. The Cimarron Canyon Rail Exhibit is adjacent to the campground, providing visitors an opportunity to explore the area's railroad heritage. Crystal Reservoir near Morrow Point Dam is approximately 1.5 miles away, offering water-based recreation opportunities. The campground features vault toilets, potable water during the operating season, and picnic tables and fire grates at each site. The paved access road makes the campground easily accessible. Typical operating season runs from early June through mid-October, though the campground experiences a winter closure from October through May. Weather can vary greatly throughout the day, with summer daytime temperatures ranging between 50 to 90°F and nights from 40 to 60°F. Afternoon thunderstorms and strong winds are common during summer months.
