About
Beaver Lake Campground sits south of Beaver Lake in Colorado's Uncompahgre National Forest, offering 11 camping sites tucked under spruce trees at high elevation. The campground provides a mix of site types: some feature views of the lake, open meadow, and towering cliffs, while tent sites located on a dead-end spur are more secluded from the main loop. Beaver Lake is a popular fishing destination for both day users and overnight campers. The surrounding area offers hiking and OHV trails, though campers should expect heavy 4-wheeler traffic along the main access road. This is a remote, primitive campground with vault toilets but no drinking water, hookups, or showers. There are no nearby communities for provisions, so visitors must bring all supplies. Potable water is available 1 mile south at Silver Jack Campground. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations.
Directions
From Montrose, CO drive east on U.S. Highway 50 to County Road 858 (Forest Access/Silver Jack Reservoir sign). Turn south on County Road 858 and travel 15 miles south to Beaver Lake Campground sign. Turn right into the campground.
