About

Silver Fir Campground occupies a forested setting along the North Fork Nooksack River in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The campground sits beneath a canopy of silver fir, western red cedar, and western hemlock, with a sunny gravel bar providing access to the river. Sites range from tent-only configurations to standard nonelectric sites that can accommodate RVs up to 53 feet on select sites. The location serves as an excellent base for exploring the Mt. Baker Wilderness and North Cascades National Park. Hannegan Pass Road, less than a mile from the campground, provides access to trails leading into alpine terrain with views of Mt. Baker's glaciated summit. The campground also features a historic Civilian Conservation Corps-built picnic shelter available for day-use groups up to 25 people. Facilities include vault toilets, drinking water from faucets, and garbage service. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring with grill. No hookups are available. The nearest supplies, groceries, and firewood are available in Glacier, approximately 20 minutes west. In winter, the area operates as a non-motorized Sno-Park.

Directions

From Glacier, travel 14 miles east on Mt. Baker Highway (SR 542). The campground is on the west side of the highway after crossing the North Fork Nooksack River near milepost 46. From Seattle, take I-5 north to Bellingham, exit 255 onto Sunset Drive/Mt. Baker Highway SR 542, and continue past Glacier approximately 14 miles.
