About

Douglas Fir Campground occupies a scenic stretch of riverfront in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, approximately 2.5 miles east of Glacier on the Mt. Baker Highway (SR 542). Mature Douglas fir, western red cedar, and western hemlock provide dense shade over 26 campsites, some nestled in the forest interior and others positioned along the North Fork Nooksack River. The campground serves as a launch point for guided river rafting and whitewater kayaking on the Nooksack. Horseshoe Bend Trail (#687) departs directly from the campground, offering an easy forest hike with views of old-growth timber, whitewater, and Church Mountain. The popular Skyline Divide Trail is nearby, climbing through forest into alpine meadows with panoramic views of glacier-clad Mt. Baker. Facilities include vault toilets, potable water from a hand pump, and garbage service. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. A historic sheltered picnic area built by the Civilian Conservation Corps is available for group day-use reservations. No hookups are available.
