About

Excelsior Group Camp was situated in Washington's North Cascades Mountains along the Mount Baker Scenic Byway (SR 542), approximately 7 miles east of the town of Glacier. The campground provided group camping near the North Fork of the Nooksack River, with access to popular trails including the Horseshoe Bend Trail and Skyline Divide Trail. The facility offered two large group sites. Site A accommodated up to 50 people and featured a group fire ring along with picnic tables and individual fire pits at tent sites. Site B also held 50 people with picnic tables and fire pits. Vault toilets were provided on site. The campground is now permanently closed. The access road washed out in November 2021, and the Forest Service has determined the campground will be decommissioned rather than repaired.
