Closed — Closed for the season. Open April through October for day use only. The pavilion can be reserved up to 12 months in advance through Recreation.gov at $50 per day.

About

Shell Knob Recreation Site sits on a bluff overlooking the White River arm of Table Rock Lake in Mark Twain National Forest. The site features a historic lighted pavilion with kitchen facilities that can accommodate up to 75 people, available for reservation through Recreation.gov. Built on the former site of a Civilian Conservation Corps camp that operated from 1936 to 1942, the recreation area includes tennis and sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, a playground, and numerous picnic tables scattered throughout the wooded grounds. A short walking trail leads to a scenic overlook of Table Rock Lake. The site is maintained and operated by the Shell Knob Lions Club in partnership with the Forest Service. The pavilion includes electricity, a sink with running water (accessible with reservation), picnic tables, and grills. Accessible vault toilets are provided, and drinking water is available during warm weather months. This is a day-use area only; overnight camping is not permitted.
